  • From $0 to $10k

Earlier this year I talked about Chris Ferguson, a popular pro that makes a living off Full Tilt Poker, one of the top Texas Holdem sites online today. That entry skimmed upon the fact that he once went from a $0 bankroll to a $10k bankroll. This accomplishment is notable since there are a lot of people out there that are not willing to wager any of their own money playing a card game. The Chris Ferguson Challenge proves that anyone can turn nothing into several thousand dollars on money poker sites by working hard and never giving up.

The steps of the Chris Ferguson Challenge were straightforward: open an account on the Fulltiltpoker download, start with an empty account, and eventually finish with a $10k bankroll. Ferguson promised that he would give this profit to the Save the Children Foundation when it was said and done.

Good players know that in order to succeed on the best US poker sites, they must manage their bankrolls properly. Because of this, Ferguson had a few rules for his challenge:

    1) Enter freerolls until there is a enough real money in the bankroll.
    2) Refrain from entering a STT on the Full Tilt Poker download for greater than five percent of the total bankroll. The one exception is for $2.50 buy-ins.
    3) Refrain from entering a multi-table tournament for greater than 2% of the total bankroll. The one exception is for $1 buy-ins.

The Chris Ferguson Challenge ended up taking a long time because cashing in freerolls on the best Mac poker sites is a daunting challenge. You might even be shocked to know that it was over 7 months before Ferguson had a steady bankroll of $6.50! Ferguson fought through this bad variance like a pro, of course. He finally scored relatively huge with a runner-up finish in a 683 field. It was a $1 tourney and he won $104.

This huge boost for the bankroll meant no more freerolls, but there was still plenty of work ahead. To make a lot of money fast you must be incredibly lucky, even on US friendly poker sites. It took him an additional nine months before he finally succeeded and had $10,000.

The most important thing to note about the Chris Ferguson Challenge is that it is almost impossible to succeed at such a challenge while lacking bankroll management. You should be able to find some useful free poker training about bankroll management if you need some help. If you have been in the game for a while, you probably know that protecting your bankroll is essential for long term success.
